“For my children and I, Mrs Menhardt is the best hearing technician.”
AUSTRIAN AUDIOLOGIST OF THE YEAR 2017 IS ANNOUNCED
A dedicated audiologist has fought off stiff competition to take home the most coveted award in her field.
Herdis Menhardt, Audiologist at Hör-Akustik Döbling, has been announced as the 2017 Austrian Audiologist of the Year.
The competition is organised by leading hearing aid battery manufacturer Rayovac, a division of Spectrum Brands Holdings Inc., who this year welcomed a new sponsor, The European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH), on board, joining longstanding partners Audio Infos, and the European Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (EHIMA). The competition relies on nominations from patients who have experienced exceptional care from their audiologist.
Celebrating a decade of industry excellence, a panel of independent hearing care professionals came together over the summer to judge the high volume of Austrian entries, to determine who deserved to be crowned as the winner.
Herdis Menhardt was nominated by Heidi, who, in her entry, described how Herdis understood hearing aids perfectly. Heidi is almost deaf and her three of her four children are also hearing impaired, some to a high degree. Thanks to the patience and support of Mrs Menhardt, Heidi and her family have found optimal hearing aids for their needs and are checked every year, ensuring everything runs smoothly and fits in around school, university and professional life.
In her heart-warming nomination for Herdis, Heidi said: “Herdis is the most competent, most informed and patient hearing professional I know. She understands hearing aids perfectly and is a master of computers and special programmes.
“I am almost totally deaf myself, three of my four children are also hearing impaired, so our experience in this area is very broad. Thanks to this audiologist, we have found optimal hearing aids for our needs. For my children and I, she is the best hearing aid technician.”
Lidia Smolarek-Best, Vice President from EFHOH, said: “We are thrilled to be part of a competition that brings so many professionals from the industry together to recognise their life-changing accomplishments. There are some absolutely terrific audiologists out there, demonstrating that care goes well beyond the consulting room.”
Paula Brinson-Pyke, Marketing Director at Rayovac, said: “The award is not only an accolade in its own right but plays a key role in supporting the practices of winning audiologists around Europe.
“With the support of our sponsors, we are honoured to once again be able to celebrate the achievements of hardworking and dedicated hearing care professionals. In our 10th anniversary special year, we’ve received an incredible number of entries to the competition showcasing the high standard of work taking place across Europe.”
Judging is now underway to decide which of the winners from each of the participating countries will go on to win the coveted title of European Audiologist of the Year. The winner will receive a cash prize along with a certificate, which will be presented at the annual Evening of Excellence during the EUHA event in Germany this October.
