My audiologist is one of the most clinically experienced and advanced audiologists in her profession. She is devoted to medical research. Also she teaches audiology to university students. She gives her patients the very best advice and attention and she is prepared to spend all the time necessary with her patients discussing the individual needs. She never rushes an appointment.
A year ago I had a serious head injury and at first lost all my hearing. As my case became more complex than average I needed to know everything possible about my clinical case. My helpful discussions with my audiologist gave me a full understanding of how she would be able to help me and she specially created longer appointments because she felt my needs were more involved. She has strongly encouraged me to wear my hearing aids continually all day to help my damaged brain cells regenerate.
After a year I have had an amazing improvement in my hearing levels and her advice had been so fruitful. My audiologist has introduced me to the latest hearing equipment and I have benefitted so much, not only from the hearing aids she suggested but also from my accessories. I now have two TV links which make TV programmes so much easier to hear clearly.
My audiologist has given me much extra time setting up a music programme on my hearing aid. As a retired violinist this has been especially appreciated and I am now again able to enjoy listening to classic music. My audiologist has a special ability in understanding the complexities involved in sound reproduction and it has benefitted me particularly because of the asymmetry of my hearing.
My audiologist has a great interest in the problems caused by Tinnitus. She has also completed training in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. She has remarkable success in helping so many grateful sufferers. During the time I have been a patient I have noticed my own long term tinnitus seems to have suddenly improved which is a relief.
My audiologist is also inspiring in her gentle care of her younger patients, from babies onwards, and gives them all the time and support they need. When my hearing aid had problems she travelled to my home to personally check that it was set up correctly although it was her day off work. This was especially thoughtful and generous but I know all her patients experience this continuing care and concern for their wellbeing.
Until I met my audiologist I received so little special attention to my serious hearing problems after my accident and now she has given me a new quality of life. I was warmly recommended to her as a very specialist audiologist. It is a revelation as to how much more she has been able to do for me. I am so lucky to be her patient.
